CHARLES THOMAS and MARGARET
PATRICIA CUSTER BECKETT lived at 1615 Glen Park Drive, CHAMPAIGN, IL.
for the first 12 years of their marriage with CHARLES's parents, THOMAS WALLER and
JONELLA HUTCHINSON BECKETT. Here, their first five children were born.
CHARLES THOMAS worked for the CHAMPAIGN BUS
COMPANY from 1941 thru 1943. He then did some construction work and in 1943 he
began driving for BLACK HAWK BUS LINE in CHAMPAIGN until
World War II was over.. He worked as a taxi driver with several cab companies in CHAMPAIGN
and had other jobs in the locate area until he moved his family to TUCSON, AZ.
in 1946.
CHARLES and MARGARET had two
daughters while living in TUCSON, AZ. CHARLES worked for the TUCSON
CITY BUS in 1946 and 1947. He went to work for the Southern Pacific
Railroad in 1947 while still living in TUCSON. While working for
the railroad, Charles felt through a rail car roof door and broke his back. He spent one
year in a hospital in SAN FRANCISCO, CA. His back continued to give him
problems thorough out his remaining life.
CHARLES and MARGARET returned to the
Champaign-Urbana area in on August 16, 1949. They lived on two farms, approximately one
year each, 5 miles south of SEYMOUR, IL. CHARLES went
back to work for Taxi Companies in CHAMPAIGN. In 1952, they moved to 810
N. Cunningham, (Route 45), 1 mile north of five-points in URBANA, IL. They
lived their for a year and then moved to #16 BRADLEY & McKinley, CHAMPAIGN,
IL. until 1960.
After THOMAS WALLER BECKETT pasted away, CHARLES
THOMAS and MARGARET PATRICIA BECKETT moved to MANSFIELD,
IL., living just across the street from his mother, JONELLA HUTCHINSON
BECKETT.
CHARLES and MARGARET move to MOHOMENT,
IL. in 1965 and lived there for a year. In 1966, CHARLES and MARGARET
move 600 block on West Springfield, in CHAMPAIGN. In 1969, CHARLES
and MARGARET brought a home at 3108 Ridgewood Drive, CHAMPAIGN.
MARGARET began work at ADLER CLINIC, CHAMPAIGN
in 1968 and retired from ADLER in 1981. She held several position at ADLER,
and retired a dietician assistant.
CHARLES and MARGARET owned a little
home in southern Illinois, 12 miles north of MT. CARMEL, IL. They planned
to retired to this home; however, their son SCOTT ALAN who lived in the MT.
CARMEL area was transfer and for several other reasons, CHARLES and
MARGARET sold this home.
CHARLES THOMAS BECKETT, (Eight generation in America
of the Family Wallingford) pasted away at his home, 3108 Ridgewood Drive, CHAMPAIGN
on January 31, 1984 with his wife, MARGARET PATRICIA CUSTER BECKETT and
all of their children at his side. CHARLES THOMAS BECKETT is buried in
the WOODLAWN CEMETERY, URBANA, ILLINOIS.
In 1985, MARGARET moved to ALABAMA
with her daughter PATRICIA FERN FANCHER. In 1988, MARGARET moved
back to ILLINOIS with her daughter and son-in-law, DUKE and
SUELLYN WHITE. Later, MARGARET moved with her daughter
and son-in-law, RANDAL and DARLYA KAY HEADLEY to INDIANAPOLIS,
INDIANA and later to 1727 Cash Road, SONORA, KY.
